Geely Monjaro has finally landed on Philippine shores. Its arrival is critical for Geely Motor Philippines (GMP), an outfit eager to reclaim lost ground since resetting its local operations last year. Stepping straight into the flagship slot, this new plug-in hybrid crossover rides on Geely’s highly praised Compact Modular Architecture (CMA)—the very same bones beneath premium metal like the Volvo XC40 and Polestar 2.

The long delay makes perfect sense when you look under the hood: Geely was waiting for the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. The wait was worth it. By pairing a 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine with dual electric motors, the Monjaro churns out a massive 340 horsepower and 667 Nm of torque, routed to all four wheels via a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). A 29.8 kWh LFP battery delivers a generous 130 km of pure-electric driving, or a massive 1,095 km of total range when combined with a full tank of gas (both NEDC-rated). When the battery runs low, a 78 kW DC fast charger gets you from 30 to 80% in just 15 minutes, while standard 6.6 kW AC charging handles overnight top-ups. To top it off, the Monjaro pulls double duty as a mobile generator, capable of juicing up appliances or even rescuing stranded EVs using V2L and V2V power sharing.

Step inside, and you’re greeted by a premium, amber-and-black cabin lined with soft-touch plastics, faux wood accents, and plush suede-and-leather upholstery. The tech immediately steals the show. Geely has packed the dashboard with a massive 15.4-inch central touchscreen running the slick Flyme Auto interface, backed up by a sprawling 25.6-inch head-up display. Comfort is clearly a priority here; the front passenger seat reclines completely flat, and both front chairs feature ventilation and a built-in massage function. The rest of the standard kit reads like a luxury vehicle’s options list, bundling a panoramic sunroof, a power tailgate, customizable ambient lighting, a 16-speaker Flyme Sound audio system, and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assist safety tech.

Buyers can choose between four distinct colorways: Cloud White, Night Black, Sky Blue, and Dawn Gold. The all-new Geely Monjaro EM-i is now hitting authorized showrooms nationwide, carrying a highly aggressive retail price of Php 1,868,000.
