Geely just built its 1 millionth Xingyuan EV (Geely EX2 outside China), hitting a massive production milestone just two years after the compact electric car first hit the scene. Officially launched in late 2024 under the Geely Galaxy sub-brand, the little hatchback has been on an absolute tear. It was built to go toe-to-toe with micro-EV heavyweights like the BYD Seagull, and the strategy is paying off beautifully. Right now, Geely is pumping these out at an astonishing global average of one car per minute.

The numbers speak for themselves: the Xingyuan actually cleared 465,775 retail sales to become China’s absolute best-selling vehicle model in 2025. It helps that Geely didn’t skimp on the hardware. Built on their GEA architecture, the car pairs tight urban dimensions with features you normally expect in a much pricier segment—think standard CATL battery cells, a massive 14.6-inch center screen, and a 540-degree camera system. Aggressive limited-time discounts and a steady stream of longer-range updates have kept the momentum from stalling.

But Geely’s ambitions stretch far past its home turf. Rebadged as the Geely EX2 for international markets, the micro-EV is now selling across more than 30 countries. It has already carved out a massive footprint in Southeast Asia and South America, even kicking off local assembly at a joint-venture plant in Brazil. Now that it is landing on Canadian shores, crossing the 1 million production threshold feels less like a capstone and more like the opening act of Geely’s global push.
