BYD just hit a new high for the year, delivering 490,168 vehicles in October 2026. That is a 10.97% jump from the same time last year, stretching the company’s year-over-year winning streak to six straight months. It is also the eighth month in a row that overall sales numbers have climbed. Pure electric cars did the heavy lifting here. For the first time ever, BYD’s monthly battery-electric passenger sales cleared the 300,000 threshold, locking in at 305,743 units—a massive 37.38% increase over last October.

That surge in pure EVs effectively papered over a rough patch for the company’s plug-in hybrids, which dropped 17.23% to 177,382 units. A deeper look at the geography shows an even sharper divide. Demand in China has dried up amid a brutal domestic price war, dragging BYD’s home sales down 10.57%. What saved the month was the international market. Overseas shipments more than doubled compared to last year, soaring 102.8% to 170,194 vehicles. These premium international sales bring in much fatter profit margins than cars sold at home, giving BYD a vital cushion as its overall quarterly earnings growth starts to lose steam.

BYD is aggressively overhauling its core lineup with a rapid-fire wave of product refreshes. The momentum kicked off on October 20 with the second-generation Seagull, which rolled out a larger footprint and added flash charging to high-spec variants. Just a week later, the automaker turned its attention to the family sedan segment, debuting the third-generation Qin Plus DM-i. This plug-in hybrid refresh goes big on upgrades, offering a stretched body, extended electric range, and an optional LiDAR setup. BYD isn’t tapping the brakes either; on November 5, the second-generation Seal 07 hits the market with both EV and plug-in hybrid options to keep the momentum going for its ocean-themed series.
