Chery’s plug-in hybrid lineup is growing. The incoming Chery Tiggo V is a shape-shifting crossover SUV equipped with a removable camper shell that lets it convert into a pickup truck. When it lands in the Philippines, it will pack a 1.6-litre turbocharged PHEV powertrain, according to Autoindustria.com. The versatile newcomer will also offer a flexible seven-seat layout, allowing owners to easily change up the seating configurations.

Chery is keeping local pricing and final specifications under wraps for now. However, overseas models give us a clear picture of what to expect: a massive total driving range crossing the 1,000-kilometre mark on a full tank and charge, alongside a 100-kilometre pure electric range. While its exact footprint remains unconfirmed, Chery has dropped some impressive numbers. The Tiggo V boasts a generous 2,800mm wheelbase, 220mm of ground clearance, 700mm of water-wading capability, and a cavernous 1,683-litre maximum cargo capacity.

The cabin is packed with tech and creature comforts. Headlining the dashboard is a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen running wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Chery also threw in dual-zone climate control with dedicated vents for all three rows, an onboard cooler box for drinks, a dual-opening tailgate, and a full leather interior. On the safety front, it will bundle up to 19 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Expect a global rollout in December 2026, with the innovative crossover likely hitting Philippine showrooms by the first quarter of 2027.
